Artificial Olive Trees
The olive tree has become the default statement plant for a certain kind of relaxed, Mediterranean-leaning interior, and for good reason: the silver-green foliage is softer and less saturated than most greenery, so it lifts a room without dominating it, and the gnarled trunk gives a sense of age that a young plant cannot.
Real olives are genuinely difficult in the UK. They want more sun than most of the country offers, they dislike cold wet winters, and indoors they tend to thin out and drop leaves. An artificial olive holds the full canopy permanently, which matters with a tree whose whole appeal is a generous head of fine foliage.
The range covers table-top sizes through to substantial floor-standing specimens, with and without fruit. Olives look best in simple, weathered, earthy containers — terracotta tones, aged stone finishes, or plain matt ceramic — rather than anything glossy or ornate.
