Red Artificial Flowers
Red is the most assertive colour in flowers and needs the most deliberate handling. Used well it gives a room a focal point that nothing else matches; used carelessly it fights with everything around it. The reliable approach is to treat red as a single accent against a restrained background rather than distributing it evenly through a scheme.
The range runs from deep burgundies and wine reds — which read as rich, warm and traditional, and sit well with dark wood, brass and heavier interiors — through to bright pillar-box and scarlet tones that feel modern, festive and energetic. The two behave very differently in a room, so it is worth deciding which mood you want before choosing the flower.
Red roses, amaryllis, poppies and berry stems are the mainstays here, and red is naturally the strongest performer at Christmas — see also Christmas and Christmas wreaths. Whatever you choose, give it plenty of green to sit against: browse green flowers and foliage.
